Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship

The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS) program strengthens Canada's ability to attract and retain world-class doctoral students. Established by the Government of Canada in 2008 and administered through Canada's three federal research granting agencies - Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) - Vanier Scholars are leaders in their fields. The scholarship is worth $50,000 per year for three years, making it one of the most generous PhD scholarships in North America. Nomination is made through the Canadian university where the student plans to study. The program aims to attract and retain world-class doctoral students by supporting students who demonstrate both leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement in graduate studies in the social sciences and/or humanities, natural sciences and/or engineering, and health.
